Vaccine‐Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia Caused by Zoetis PR‐VAC PLUS in Pseudorabies Virus‐Free Danish Purebred Pigs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2025.
Vaccine‐induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), a novel syndrome of adverse events following adenovirus vector COVID‐19 vaccines, was observed after vaccination with Zoetis PR‐VAC PLUS. This resulted in 100% morbidity in PRV‐free Danish pure breeders from Danish Genetics Co., causing severe pulmonary oedema, gastric ulcers, haemorrhagic ...

Outer Membrane Lipoprotein Lip40 Modulates Adherence, Colonization, and Virulence of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Bacterial lipoproteins are a set of membrane proteins with various functions; many of which are virulence factors of pathogenic bacteria. In the present study, we investigated the role of an outer membrane lipoprotein Lip40 in the pathogenesis of ...

Use of Subtherapeutic Tylvalosin Against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae: Implications For Respiratory Microbiome Dysbiosis and Swine Lung Health

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Enzootic pneumonia (EP) caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (M. hyopneumoniae) has a significant impact on swine production. Subtherapeutic exposures of tylvalosin in swine, often due to inconsistent dosing in feed or water, promote antimicrobial resistance.

Serotype distribution of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae isolated from porcine pleuropneumonia in the Czech Republicduring period 2003-2004 [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinární medicína, 2005
A total of 245 isolates of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae included in this study were isolated from lung tissues of pigs which died of porcine pleuropneumonia. The isolates were obtained from 52 swine herds in the Czech Republic over the period 2003-2004. All the serotypes were serotyped by the coagglutination test.

Capsular Polysaccharide Production in Bacteria of the Mycoplasma Genus: A Huge Diversity of Pathways and Synthases for So‐Called Minimal Bacteria

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 122, Issue 6, Page 866-878, December 2024.
Synthases are membrane‐embedded glycosyltransferases enabling the polymerization and secretion of homopolysaccharides that can form a capsule around mycoplasma cells. The nature of the capsular polymer is tightly linked to different structural features of the synthase.
