Influence of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and its metabolites on porcine alveolar epithelial cells [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1996
The effect of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and its metabolites on the viability of porcine alveolar epithelial cells was studied by using a neutral-red uptake test. Alveolar epithelial cells were obtained from 5-week-old colostrum-deprived pigs. The purity of these cells as assessed by the modified Papanicolaou stain was 90 to 95%.

Genetic and Pathogenic Characteristics of an Emerging Highly Virulent Recombinant Lineage Korean Clade C PRRSV Strain

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
A strain of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) was isolated from lung tissue of a pig showing severe respiratory clinical signs from a farm in Gyeongsang province of South Korea. This PRRSV strain, designated as SNUVR220803, was classified within the lineage Korean clade C (LKC) based on a phylogenetic analysis of the ORF5 gene.

Immunosuppression of the Nasal Cavity by a Novel Pathogenic Pseudorabies Virus Isolation from Cattle in China

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
The respiratory mucosa serves as a primary entry point for numerous pathogenic microbes, and the respiratory mucosa secretes type I and III interferons (IFNs), the first generation of antiviral cytokines, in response to viral infection. The pseudorabies virus (PRV) causes serious illnesses in many domestic and wild animal species, particularly in pigs ...
