New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Degradation Mechanism of Pressure-Assisted Sintered Silver by Thermal Shock Test
This paper investigates the degradation mechanism of pressure-sintered silver (s-Ag) film for silicon carbide (SiC) chip assembly with a 2-millimeter-thick copper substrate by means of thermal shock test (TST).

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Porosities of Mandelbrot Percolation [PDF]
We study porosities in the Mandelbrot percolation process. We show that, almost surely at almost all points with respect to the natural measure, the mean porosities of the set and the natural measure exist and are equal to each other for all parameter values outside of a countable exceptional set. As a corollary, we obtain that, almost surely at almost

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Ammonium perchlorate (AP) is a common oxidant in solid propellants, and its thermal decomposition characteristics at low temperatures (less than 240 °C) are key to the study of the thermal safety of propellants.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
