Research On the Load‐Bearing Characteristics of Porous Air Bearings Applied to Ultra‐Precision Spindles

open access: yesEngineering Reports
Existing research primarily focuses on small‐to‐medium‐scale porous air bearings, with limited attention given to the large‐scale bearings required for ultra‐precision equipment, such as wafer thinning machines.

Effect of Variation in Viscosity on Static and Dynamic Characteristics of Rough Porous Journal Bearings with Micropolar Fluid Squeeze Film Lubrication

open access: yesLubricants
In the present study, an effort was made to determine the effects of a porous matrix with different viscosities on the dynamic and static behaviors of rough short journal bearings taking into account the action of a squeezing film under varying loads ...

EFFECT OF STARVATION ON THERMOELASTOHYDRODYNAMIC LUBRICATION OF ROLLING / SLIDING CONTACT

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2006
A complete numerical solution of thermal compressible elastohydrodynamic lubrication of rolling / sliding contact was achieved to determine the effect of inlet boundary condition on the film shape, film pressure, and film temperature in an ...

On the Effect of Creep on Local Lattice Orientation in Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloy Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
During creep of a single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloy, the overall crystal orientation is observed to remain constant while the microstructure evolves. Despite the lack of macroscopic rotation, small (<1°) rotations are observed on the submicron size scale and are accommodated by counteracting rotations over the scale of several micrometers.

MHD Effect on Porous Wide Composite Slider Bearing Lubricated with a Couplestress Fluids

open access: yesTribology Online, 2015
A Magnetohydrodynamic effect on porous composite slider bearing lubricated with couple stress fluids is numerically analyzed. A modified Reynolds equation has been derived taking into magnetic field in the couple stress fluid lubrication of wide porous ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Porous Hydrodynamic Journal Bearing Analysis Using Micropolar Fluid in Steady-State Condition

open access: yesTribology Online, 2019
The objective of the present work is to study theoretically, the steady-state performance of finite hydrodynamic porous journal bearings under micropolar lubrication. The fluid pressure in porous matrix follows Darcy’s equation.

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...
