Tailoring porous carbon spheres for supercapacitors
Nanoscale, 2018In this review, we provide a comprehensive summarization of the syntheses of porous carbon spheres with tailored structures for supercapacitors. Five categories of synthetic methodologies are generally discussed.

Template Approaches to Preparing Porous Carbon
2007In comparison with traditional porous carbon materials such as activated carbons and carbon blacks, template-synthesized carbons can more easily and controllably achieve prescribed physical, chemical, and morphological properties for a wide range of novel applications.

Gold nanoparticles encapsulated in porous carbon
Chemical Communications, 2012Gold nanoparticles encapsulated in porous carbon spheres with high surface areas (~800 m(2) g(-1)) have been synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP). The porous carbon-encapsulated gold nanoparticles exhibit excellent catalytic activity toward the reductions of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic nitroaromatics.

Porous carbon-carbon composites for fuel cells
Fibre Chemistry, 2007Technology for fabricating porous current-conducting gas-diffusion supports for fuel element electrodes made of carbon-carbon composites with the structure of fabrics, knits, and nonwovens was developed. The process scheme for manufacturing gas-diffusion electrodes for fuel cells was examined.

Micromechanical Modeling of Porous Carbon/Carbon Composites
Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2005A procedure to model fiber-reinforced composites containing pores of irregular shapes is presented. Closed-form expressions for contributions of fibers and pores into effective elastic moduli are provided. The procedure is applied to predict the transverse elastic properties of unidirectional carbon/carbon composites (carbon fibers in pyrolytic carbon ...

Porous carbon and carbon composite hollow spheres
Colloid and Polymer Science, 2008In this communication, we propose a template approach toward synthesis of carbon hollow spheres by direct carbonization of highly crosslinked sulfonated polystyrene gel hollow spheres (sPS). The sulfonic acid group can facilitate carbonization. Moreover, the acid group can also induce a favorable growth of other materials within the sPS gel-forming ...

Gasification of porous carbon particle by carbon dioxide
Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010The diffusive-kinetic model of porous carbon particles gasification is developed. The model considers the processes of heat and mass transfer both inside the porous particle and above it. Analysis of the model shows that heat and mass transfer have an influence to the gasification process to a marked degree.

Porous concrete as a template for the synthesis of porous carbon materials
Carbon, 2012The potential of industrial porous concrete for using as a template for the synthesis of porous carbon materials has been investigated. Carbon replicas of porous concrete have been prepared by carbonization of sucrose. The pores of the resulting carbon materials range from the macropore to the micropore region, pointing to a hierarchy.

Porous Properties of Carbon/Carbon Composite Xerogels
Materials Science Forum, 2018Carbon/carbon composite xerogels are prepared by a vacuum drying technique whereas a carbon cryogel is synthesized by a freeze drying technique to compare the effect of these drying methods at the selective synthesis condition. Resorcinol and formaldehyde are used to prepare a matrix phase and cotton fibers are acted as a disperse phase of the carbon ...
