ENGINEERED POROUS CATALYTIC MATERIALS

Annual Review of Materials Research, 2005
▪ Abstract  In recent years substantial progress has been made in the control of the properties of porous materials on the nano-, meso-, and macroscale. The feature of solids can, in favorable cases, be tailored to such an extent that one is justified in using the term engineering of porous catalytic materials.

Porous materials

NMR in porous materials

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1998
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to determine the pore size distribution of hardened Portland cement pastes. The method is based on the well-known freezing point depression of water when confined inside the pore matrix of a material. It is demonstrated how this technique can be applied in cementitious materials to probe the microstructure of ...

Microanalysis of Porous Materials

Microscopy and Microanalysis, 2004
A signal loss is generally reported in electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) of porous, highly divided materials like heterogeneous catalysts. The hypothesis generally proposed to explain this signal loss refers to porosity, roughness, energy losses at interfaces, or charging effects.

Porous materials

2018
Natural gas has received significant attention as a cleaner energy source alternative to gasoline. Natural gas consists of mainly methane (CH4); therefore, efficient storage of CH4 is essential to utilize natural gas. Porous materials have been widely used to store CH4 in a safe, efficient and cost-effective way. Among various different types of porous

Solventless Fabrication of Porous-on-Porous Materials

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2013
Here we fabricate patterned porous polymer membranes on porous substrates by a combination of physical masking and chemical vapor deposition. This all-dry technique eliminates solvent-related issues and allows for the fabrication of hierarchical porous-on-porous structures with a wide range of chemical compositions and shapes.

Porous Ionic Liquid Materials

2017
Porous ionic liquid materials are a well-established reality in the field of functional porous materials. The combination of porosity with ionic liquid functionality gives rise to a large variety of materials useful for a broad range of applications, ranging from gas adsorption/separation to catalysis.

Porous materials. Function-led design of new porous materials.

Science (New York, N.Y.), 2015
Porous solids are important as membranes, adsorbents, catalysts, and in other chemical applications. But for these materials to find greater use at an industrial scale, it is necessary to optimize multiple functions in addition to pore structure and surface area, such as stability, sorption kinetics, processability, mechanical properties, and thermal ...
