Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.

The Microstructural Effects of Randomly Generated Porous Media on Interfacial Convective Heat Transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Heat and momentum transfer in a random generated porous media is investigated. 6 different random porous media are generated using a Monte–Carlo (MC) procedure. The continuity, momentum and energy equations are solved for a row of cylinders with a square

Graded‐Interface Dual‐Environment Hydrogel‐Polymer Electrolyte for Stabilized Anode and Sustained Cathode Kinetics in Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graded‐interface hydrogel‐polymer electrolyte decouples water activity to simultaneously stabilize the Zn anode and sustain cathode kinetics. The flexible design supports dendrite‐free cycling over 1600 h, high capacity in both MnO2 and V2O5 full cells, and stable pouch‐cell performance under bending, resolving the fundamental water conflict in ...

A Water Retention Curve Model for the Simulation of Coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Processes in Geological Porous Media

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a new water retention curve (WRC) model for the simulation of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in geological porous media. The model simultaneously considers the impact of porosity and temperature on suction, for both wetting

Ordering processes in porous media

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1993
The ordering processes in a binary liquid mixture confined in a Vycor type of pore and at temperatures near the transition temperature of the pure system T c are studied using a kinetic Ising model and the method of Monte Carlo simulations. The results for dynamics show quite clear signatures of the pore width but no notable difference between T>T c ...

Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Effects of Pore Geometry on Flowing Foam Dynamics in 3D-Printed Porous Media

open access: yes, 2018
Foam flow in porous media is important in several environmental and industrial applications including soil remediation and enhanced oil recovery. The behaviour of foam is greatly influenced by transport properties of porous media, properties of foam and ...

Aluminum impairs cellular ultrastructure and bone microarchitecture in newborn rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Imaging
Modern lifestyle is strongly marked by the presence of aluminum (Al) in practically all human consumer products. Bone tissue is one of the main sites of Al accumulation, and its toxic effects are well known in individuals subjected to chronic exposure ...

Pull‐and‐Push Nanotherapeutic Hydrogels: Scavenging Inflammatory Triggers While Driving Tissue Regeneration in Burn Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A nanounit‐assembled hydrogel employing a “pull‐and‐push” strategy simultaneously scavenges pro‐inflammatory cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and delivers regenerative therapeutics in response to burn‐induced hyperthermia. By repolarizing macrophages and promoting angiogenesis, this multifunctional platform accelerates burn wound healing, offering a blueprint for
