Medpor porous polyethylene implants in orbital blowout fracture repair [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 2001
Various materials are used in orbital blowout fracture repair. We describe a series of patients with orbital blowout fractures that were repaired using porous polyethylene (Medpor) sheets.A non-comparative interventional case series is described of 30 blowout fractures of 30 patients aged 7-60 years (median 29 years) who underwent orbital blowout ...

Rare‐Earth–Functionalized Carbon Dot Hydrogels as Mechanically Robust Antibacterial Wound Dressings

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The schematic depicts a dynamically cross‐linked PVA hydrogel network in which reversible borate ester bonds and hydrogen‐bonding interactions integrate lanthanum‐doped carbon dots (La‐CDs) and dipotassium glycyrrhizinate (DPG) to form a mechanically robust, multifunctional matrix.

Engineered Nanoplatforms Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells for Liver Fibrosis Therapy via TGF‐β Axis Inhibition and Ferroptosis Induction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
FeS‐VA@lanifibranor (FVL), an activated hepatic stellate cell (aHSC)‐targeted nanoplatform comprising vitamin A‐functionalized two‐dimensional iron sulfide nanosheets and lanifibranor, is engineered for precision therapy of liver fibrosis. FVL suppresses the TGF‐β signaling pathway by inhibiting SMAD2/3 phosphorylation and induces ferroptosis in aHSCs,

Complications of motility peg placement for porous hydroxyapatite orbital implants [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 2002
To evaluate the complications associated with pegging of porous hydroxyapatite orbital implants.Complications associated with pegging were retrospectively reviewed from the charts of 100 of 133 patients with hydroxyapatite implantation from 1993 to 2000.48 (48%) of the 100 hydroxyapatite implanted patients who had undergone pegging were found to have ...

Near‐Infrared Light‐Activated Polydopamine Nanoparticles Conjugated With Transferrin Peptides for Enhanced Brain Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Tf‐PDA NPs combine a receptor‐mediated targeting with mild photothermal activation to enhance nanoparticle accumulation in the brain. NIR‐activated Tf‐PDA NPs increase BBB permeability to NPs in vitro and in vivo without inducing cytotoxicity or adverse immune responses.
