The Effects of a Zirconia Addition on the Compressive Strength of Reticulated Porous Zirconia-Toughened Alumina

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Porous ceramics have attracted researchers due to their high chemical and thermal stability. Among various types of porous ceramics, reticulated porous ceramics have both high porosity and good permeability.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Dynamics of active filaments in porous media

open access: yes, 2019
The motion of active polymers in a porous medium is shown to depend critically on flexibilty, activity and degree of polymerization. For given Peclet number, we observe a transition from localisation to diffusion as the stiffness of the chains is ...

Recent advances in the formation of phase inversion membranes made from amorphous or semi-crystalline polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Structural characteristics in membranes formed by diffusion induced phase separation processes are discussed. Established theories on membrane formation from ternary systems can be extended to describe the effects of high or low molecular weight ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Features of BET method application to various adsorbents

open access: yesХімія, фізика та технологія поверхні, 2022
For various adsorbents, especially nanoporous, there is an applicability problem of the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method using nitrogen as a probe adsorbate.

Electro-spinning/netting: A strategy for the fabrication of three-dimensional polymer nano-fiber/nets. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Since 2006, a rapid development has been achieved in a subject area, so called electro-spinning/netting (ESN), which comprises the conventional electrospinning process and a unique electro-netting process. Electro-netting overcomes the bottleneck problem

Green construction of highly tunable micro-nano porous polymers based on polymethylmethacrylate /polyvinylidene fluoride self-assembly system and ultra-low pressure CO2 foaming

open access: yesJournal of CO2 Utilization
The green construction of micro-nano porous polymers with great potential still faces extreme challenges, including polluting solution blending processes, the use of exogenous nucleating agents, high saturation pressure and even chlorofluorocarbon ...
