First evidence of anisotropic quenched disorder effects on a smectic liquid crystal confined in porous silicon [PDF]
We present a neutron scattering analysis of the structure of the smectic liquid crystal octylcyanobiphenyl (8CB) confined in one-dimensional nanopores of porous silicon films (PS). The smectic transition is completely suppressed, leading to the extension

A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Nanocrystalline Porous Silicon [PDF]
Porous silicon can be considered as a silicon crystal having a network of voids in it. The nano sized voids in the bulk silicon result in a sponge-like structure of pores and channels surrounded by a skeleton of crystalline Si nano wires. Porous silicon (PS) is gaining scientific and technological attention as a potential platform mainly for its ...
