Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Influence of Impermeable Elevated Bottom on the Wave Scattering due to Multiple Porous Structures

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
The significance of multiple porous structures with finite spacing upon elevated seabed in the presence and absence of the leeward wall is examined under oblique wave impinging.

Tailored Hierarchical Porous Copper Architectures via Three Dimensional Printing and Pressure‐less Sintering for Next‐Generation Lithium‐Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical porous copper current collector is fabricated via three‐dimensional printing combined with pressureless sintering to stabilize lithium metal anodes. The interconnected architecture lowers local current density, guides uniform Li deposition within pores, and suppresses dendrite growth.

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Evaluating the mechanical responses on a cell under fluid perfusion: A multiscale computational method

open access: yesResults in Surfaces and Interfaces
Enhancing cell migration on the surface of an implant can indeed have a significant effect on expediting both wound healing and the process of osseointegration between the implant and the surrounding bone. In this context, a study was conducted involving

Effect of Cu2O Morphology on Photovoltaic Performance of P-Type Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

open access: yesAnnals of West University of Timisoara: Physics, 2018
Cuprous oxide with different morphologies (3D hierarchical structure consisting of the micrometer dendritic rods and the porous truncated octahedrons) has been successfully synthesized via a facile one-step hydrothermal method using copper (II) acetate ...

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

FORMATION OF POROUS SILICON IN THE PULSED GALVANOSTATIC MODE

open access: yesДоклады Белорусского государственного университета информатики и радиоэлектроники, 2019
The results of porous silicon formation by anodization of single crystalline silicon wafers in the pulsed galvanostatic mode are presented. Correlations between pore structure and anodization process parameters were determined.
