The porous structure of polyarylates

Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1972
THE development of new methods for synthesizing new types of heat-resis tant p o l y m e r s t h e polyaryla tes (PA)-requires detailed s tudy of these s tructures and of the effects of var ious factors on them. One of the impor t an t elements of po lymer s t ructure is the porosity; it has a considerable effect on the mechanical , thermophys ica l ...

Structure of Porous Adsorbents

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1972
AbstractPorous solids are gaining in importance as adsorbents and catalysts both for scientific investigations and for industrial applications. Adsorbents having predetermined pore structure can be prepared by specific synthesis. This pore structure can be described in detail and comprehensively by specific parameters, which can be determined by gas ...

Porous crystals as scaffolds for structural biology

Current Opinion in Structural Biology, 2020
Molecular scaffolds provide routes to otherwise inaccessible organized states of matter. Scaffolds that are crystalline can be observed in atomic detail using diffraction, along with any guest molecules that have adopted coherent structures therein. This approach, scaffold-assisted structure determination, is not yet routine.

Tissue reaction to three ceramics of porous and non‐porous structures

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1972
AbstractIn this investigation, ceramics were studied to determine their role as rigid, abrasive implants in soft, living tissue. Discs and tubes of three ceramics, CaO·Al2O3, CaO·TiO2, and CaO·ZrO2, were introduced as porous and non‐porous structures into muscle and connective tissue sites in rabbits.

Fundamentals of Porous Structures

2012
Macroscopic properties, such as capillary pressure and permeability, are important variables for mathematical modeling of transport processes in porous media. However, most transport properties exhibit great variability which cannot be modeled using deterministic approaches.

Structure of Porous Media

1991
Pore size and pore size distribution are defined, 1-D pore structure models are reviewed. Capillary pressure, relative permeability and hydrodynamic dispersion simulation with the help of network models of pore structure is discussed. Pore structure determination from serial sections is outlined.

Structure-transport relationships in porous media

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1996
An understanding of adsorption, transport, and reaction processes occurring within porous materials is central to the design and optimisation of chemical processing operations such as gas separations, catalysis, and soil remediation. To address many of the important questions in these areas the process engineer needs to characterise heterogeneities in ...
