Non-invasive diagnostic and prognostic evaluation of liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cirrhosis is the final stage of most of chronic liver diseases, and is almost invariably complicated by portal hypertension, which is the most important cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. This review will focus on the non-invasive methods

Targeting NRP1 in Endothelial Cells Facilitates the Normalization of Scar Vessels and Prevents Fibrotic Scarring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Scars exhibit vascular abnormal alterations, including upregulated NRP1 expression in endothelial cells, increased vascular density and branching, compromised vessel wall integrity, and incomplete pericyte coverage. Therapeutic targeting of NRP1 through hydrogel spray delivery offers a promising approach to normalize aberrant vasculature and prevent ...

Targeting WEE1 in ARID1A/TP53 Concurrent Mutant Colorectal Cancer by Exploiting R‐Loop Accumulation and DNA Repair Deficiencies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARID1A, a SWI/SNF complex component, is frequently mutated in colorectal cancer (CRC). CRC with ARID1A/TP53 concurrent mutations shows marked sensitivity to WEE1 inhibition. ARID1A loss induces R‐loop‐mediated replication stress, impairs ATF3 transcription, and amplifies WEE1i‐induced DNA damage, suggesting a promising therapeutic vulnerability ...

A meta-analysis of combined generic-covered stent-graft with or without bare-metal stent for refractory variceal bleeding

open access: yesJournal of Minimal Access Surgery, 2022
Objectives: The meta-analysis was conducted to systematically assess the efficacy and safety of generic stent-graft/bare-stent combination compared with Fluency stent alone in transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt procedure for refractory ...

Effects of Octapressin on Portal Venous Pressure

open access: yesKanzo, 1974

Contribution of Gli1+ Adventitial Stem Cells to Smooth Muscle Cells in Atherosclerosis and Vascular Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gli1+ adventitial stem cells (ASCs) have been thought to generate smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis. Using a dual‐recombinase lineage tracing to exclude ectopic labeling, Wang et al. found that Gli1+ ASCs do not contribute to SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques.

Pathophysiological role of prostanoids in coagulation of the portal venous system in liver cirrhosis.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
BACKGROUND:Prostanoids are important regulators of platelet aggregation and thrombotic arterial diseases. Their involvement in the development of portal vein thrombosis, frequent in decompensated liver cirrhosis, is still not investigated.
