Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

Synthesis, in vitro and in vivo evaluation of 3β-[18F]fluorocholic acid for the detection of drug-induced cholestasis in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Introduction : Drug-induced cholestasis is a liver disorder that might be caused by interference of drugs with the hepatobiliary bile acid transporters. It is important to identify this interference early on in drug development.

Fragile ergodic phases in logarithmically-normal Rosenzweig-Porter model

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper we suggest an extension of the Rosenzweig-Porter (RP) model, the LN-RP model, in which the off-diagonal matrix elements have a wide, log-normal distribution. We argue that this model is more suitable to describe a generic many body localization problem. In contrast to RP model, in LN-RP model a fragile weakly ergodic phase appears that is

Designing Asymmetric Memristive Behavior in Proton Mixed Conductors for Neuromorphic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Protonic devices that couple ionic and electronic transport are demonstrated as bioinspired neuromorphic elements. The devices exhibit rubber‐like asymmetric memristive behavior with slow voltage‐driven conductance increase and rapid relaxation, enabling simplified read–write operation.

Dundee’s Jute mills and factories: Spaces of production, surveillance and discipline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Taking Dundee’s jute industry as its focus, this paper provides a geographical reading of the architectural form, design and layout of the mills and factories of the late nineteenth century. By tracking the change from the multi-storey to the shed system,

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Porter's value chain (construction, deconstruction, reconstruction) and values management [PDF]

open access: yesMarketing i Menedžment Innovacij, 2015
The aim of the article. The phases of the Porter's value chain are distinguished: construction of chain value – Porters model (Stage 1); deconstruction – identifying contradictions, disorganizing elements of unnecessary processes that do not add value ...

Metformin use in pregnancy: promises and uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Metformin has been prescribed in pregnancy for over 40 years; for much of this time, use has been limited both in numbers and geographically, and the evidence base has been confined to observational studies.
