The chemistry of Portland cement clinker [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Cement Research, 2010
Technological developments in over a century of production of Portland cement clinker have greatly improved the homogeneity of the feed and clinker leading to much more favourable conditions for alite formation which remains the key chemical reaction in the process.

Waste with chrome in the Portland cement clinker production

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2007
Hazardous wastes, coming from industries are usually used in the Portland cement production in order to save energy, costs and/or stabilize toxic substances and heavy metals inside the clinker. This work focuses on the effect produced on the Portland cement clinker when it is obtained using tanned leather shavings whit chrome salts as part of the ...

Microwave-promoted burning of Portland cement clinker

Cement and Concrete Research, 2002
Abstract A new method of burning Portland cement clinker is studied. The microwave sintering is adopted after the raw meal is heated to certain temperature in an electric furnace. The experimental results show that after the raw meal is heated at a low electric heating temperature (1000–1200 °C) and then further sintered with microwave for 1 to 2 min,

Approach to the management of magnesium slag via the production of Portland cement clinker [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Material Cycles and Waste Management, 2018
This work aims to develop another approach to the management of magnesium slag (MS) via the production of Portland cement clinker. Thus, 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% limestone was replaced by MS and the clinker was sintered.

Portland cement clinker production using concentrated solar energy – A proof-of-concept approach [PDF]

open access: yesSolar Energy, 2019
: The aim of this work was to demonstrate the feasibility of producing Portland cement clinker upon direct exposure of the raw materials under concentrated solar radiation using the PSA high concentration solar furnace SF40.

Diffusion in Portland Cement Clinker

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1970
Experimental data on the interfacial reaction between portland cement clinker and molten coal ash at 1400° to 1500°C are consistent with a mechanism involving diffusion in the melt as the rate‐controlling step. The formation and growth of well‐defined zones between the reactants are characteristic of the reaction.

Extraction of Tricalcium Aluminate for Research Applications by Selective Dissolution of Portland Cement Clinker [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2020
Tricalcium aluminate (C3A) is the most reactive phase in portland cement clinker. In the study of the C3A hydration process, the use of synthetic samples is often preferred over clinker-sourced samples due to the absence of traces of other elements in ...

On the phase chemistry of Portland cement clinker

Advances in Cement Research, 2015
This paper describes the formation of a phosphorous belite solid solution and its impact on alite formation. A sub-solidus phase relation for the ternary system silicon dioxide–calcium oxide–phosphorus pentoxide (SiO2–CaO–P2O5) is reported. The ternary system is based on Rietveld refinements of X-ray diffraction patterns from experimental tests.
