Aircraft recognition and pose estimation

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
This work presents a geometry based vision system for aircraft recognition and pose estimation using single images. Pose estimation improves the tracking performance of guided weapons with imaging seekers, and is useful in estimating target manoeuvres and aim-point selection required in the terminal phase of missile engagements.

Human Pose Estimation in Videos

2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2015
In this paper, we present a method to estimate a sequence of human poses in unconstrained videos. In contrast to the commonly employed graph optimization framework, which is NP-hard and needs approximate solutions, we formulate this problem into a unified two stage tree-based optimization problem for which an efficient and exact solution exists ...

3D pose estimation for planes

2009 IEEE 12th International Conference on Computer Vision Workshops, ICCV Workshops, 2009
This paper presents a method to robustly track planes and estimate their 3D poses in a video. A weighted incremental normal estimation method for planes (WINEP) is presented using Bayesian inference. This estimation method guarantees an optimal solution based on all the observations up to the current time, and the computational cost at each time step ...

2D-3D pose estimation

[1988 Proceedings] 9th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2003
A robust technique is described for solving the 3D-to-2D perspective projection pose estimation problem, given corresponding point sets. The technique has a considerable advantage over the least-squares (LS) technique in that with as many as 30% of the corresponding point pair matches completely incorrect the robust technique can determine the correct ...

Polarimetric Relative Pose Estimation

2019 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2019
In this paper we consider the problem of relative pose estimation from two images with per-pixel polarimetric information. Using these additional measurements we derive a simple minimal solver for the essential matrix which only requires two point correspondences.

Monocular Head Pose Estimation

2008
This work addresses the problem of human head pose estimation from single view images. 3D rigid head pose is estimated combining Active Appearance Models (AAM) with Pose from Orthography and Scaling with ITerations (POSIT). AAM shape landmarks are tracked over time and used in POSIT for pose estimation.

Robust Optimal Pose Estimation

2008
We study the problem of estimating the position and orientationof a calibrated camera from an image of a known scene. A commonproblem in camera pose estimation is the existence of falsecorrespondences between image features and modeled 3D points.Existing techniques such as RANSAC to handle outliers have noguarantee of optimality.

Pose estimation of jointed structures

Proceedings. 1991 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2002
A framework is proposed for model-based monocular vision covering not only conventional 3-D rigid models, but also flexible structures made up of 3-D rigid bodies connected by rotational joints. Pose-estimation problems from a single view are defined and discussed according to this object model composed of rigid bodies and rotational axes, respectively

Hybrid Camera Pose Estimation

2018 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2018
In this paper, we aim to solve the pose estimation problem of calibrated pinhole and generalized cameras w.r.t. a Structure-from-Motion (SfM) model by leveraging both 2D-3D correspondences as well as 2D-2D correspondences. Traditional approaches either focus on the use of 2D-3D matches, known as structure-based pose estimation or solely on 2D-2D ...
