Gravitational pose estimation

Computers & Electrical Engineering, 2010
Problem of relative pose estimation between a camera and rigid object, given an object model with feature points and image(s) with respective image points (hence known correspondence) has been extensively studied in the literature. We propose a ''correspondenceless'' method called gravitational pose estimation (GPE), which is inspired by classical ...

On the Estimation of Children’s Poses

2017
Deep Learning architectures have obtained significant results for human pose estimation in the last years. Studies of the state of the art usually focus their attention on the estimation of the human pose of adults people depicted in images. The estimation of the pose of child (infants, toddlers, children) is sparsely studied despite it can be very ...

Pose Estimation With Segmentation Consistency

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2013
In this paper, we propose a novel method that treats pose estimation as a problem with the constraints of human segmentation consistency from single images. Different from the previous paper, we integrate pose estimation and object segmentation into a joint optimization.

Texture Driven Pose Estimation

International Conference on Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualization (CGIV'05), 2005
This article presents a 2D-3D pose estimation algorithm, which relies on texture information on the surface mesh of an object model. The textured surface mesh is rendered in a virtual image and a modified block matching algorithm is applied to determine correspondences between midpoints of surface patches to points in an image.

Bidirectional pose estimation

2011 IEEE International Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications (PerCom), 2011
This paper presents a method for relative pose estimation between two devices. Typically pose estimation is based on detecting positions of known feature points of a tracked object. I literally take a new viewpoint to this problem by considering two camera-enabled devices tracking each other.

Pose estimation for planar structures

IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2002
We address the registration problem for interactive AR applications. Such applications require a real-time registration process. Although the registration problem has received a lot of attention in the computer vision community, it's far from being solved. Ideally, an AR system should work in all environments without the need to prepare the scene ahead

Robust pose estimation

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 1999
Standard least-squares (LS) methods for pose estimation of objects are sensitive to outliers which can occur due to mismatches. Even a single mismatch can severely distort the estimated pose. This paper describes a least-median of squares (LMedS) approach to estimating pose using point matches.

Aircraft recognition and pose estimation

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
This work presents a geometry based vision system for aircraft recognition and pose estimation using single images. Pose estimation improves the tracking performance of guided weapons with imaging seekers, and is useful in estimating target manoeuvres and aim-point selection required in the terminal phase of missile engagements.

Human Pose Estimation in Videos

2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2015
In this paper, we present a method to estimate a sequence of human poses in unconstrained videos. In contrast to the commonly employed graph optimization framework, which is NP-hard and needs approximate solutions, we formulate this problem into a unified two stage tree-based optimization problem for which an efficient and exact solution exists ...

3D pose estimation for planes

2009 IEEE 12th International Conference on Computer Vision Workshops, ICCV Workshops, 2009
This paper presents a method to robustly track planes and estimate their 3D poses in a video. A weighted incremental normal estimation method for planes (WINEP) is presented using Bayesian inference. This estimation method guarantees an optimal solution based on all the observations up to the current time, and the computational cost at each time step ...
