Gas Measurements Reveal Fractional Degassing and Water Interaction During a Flank Eruption of Pacaya Volcano (Guatemala)

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 17, 16 September 2026.
Abstract SO2 flux and gas composition were measured during the 2021 flank eruption of Pacaya Volcano (Guatemala). The SO2 flux, measured with Tropomi, gradually rose from ∼2 to ∼30 kg/s over a 5 month period before the eruption. Field UV camera data showed that >95% of the SO2 was emitted from the summit crater.

Human Pressure Structures Range Contraction and Recovery Potential of the Snow Leopard

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, September 2026.
We developed a spatially explicit framework to quantify how human pressure influences range dynamics in the snow leopard. Our results reveal a consistent spatial filtering effect, where human footprint shapes patterns of contraction, persistence, and recovery potential.
