Positioning Herbert Simon within Behavioral Finance

open access: yes
This article aims to discuss Herbert Simon's contributions to behavioral finance. In addition to a critique of _homo economicus_, the article addressed the concepts of bounded rationality, satisficing, heuristics, and intuition. The discussion highlights how Simon's ideas are compatible with those of prominent authors of behavioral finance ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Modified Heisenberg Commutation Relations, Free Schrödinger Equations, Tunnel Effect and Its Connections with the Black–Scholes Equation

open access: yesAxioms
This paper explores the implications of modifying the canonical Heisenberg commutation relations over two simple systems, such as the free particle and the tunnel effect generated by a step-like potential.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

BORROWING BEHAVIOR UNDER FINANCIAL STRESS BY THE PROPRIETARY FIRM: A THEORETICAL ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper extends finance theory under risk to account for borrowing behavior under financial stress conditions. As the financial stress level for the firm increases, the role of credit or unused borrowing capacity changes. With a strong equity position,
