Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Endogenous Money: Implications for the Money Supply Process, Interest Rates, and Macroeconomics [PDF]

open access: yes
Endogenous money represents a mainstay of Post Keynesian (PK) macroeconomics. Analytically, it provides a critical linkage between the financial and real sectors, with the link running predominantly from credit to money to economic activity.

Micromechanical Characterization of 316L‐V4E Steel Transitions Produced by Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion with Dual‐Hopper Alternating Layer Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work applies High‐Speed Nanoindentation to study multi‐material transitions in powder bed fusion–electron beam melting components. The aim is to assess the mechanical gradients and interfacial behavior between American iron and steel institute 316L stainless steel and V4E tool steel in additively manufactured structures.

Exploring Microstructure–Physical Property–Corrosion Response Relationship in Intermetallic Compounds of Al‐Cu Bimetallic Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Al‐Cu intermetallic compounds (IMCs) have a significant influence on the properties of Al‐Cu bimetallic interfaces formed in compound casting. This article provides a deeper understanding of microstructure, crystallography, thermal properties, hardness, and corrosion response of Al‐Cu IMCs with the goal of facilitating the optimization of the ...

On the Theory and Practise of Fiscal Decentralization [PDF]

open access: yes
The traditional theory of public finance has made a strong case for a major role for fiscal decentralization. This case is based on an improved allocation of resources in the public sector. And it has four basic elements.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Fiscal fan charts - A tool for assessing member states’ (likely?) compliance with EU fiscal rules [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper sets out a methodology for constructing fan charts for the government deficit and debt ratios over the medium-term. It relies on information contained in Stability/Convergence Programme Updates, a model of the relevant stochastic process (for ...
