Dynamic mooring-forces allocation in dynamic ship positioning
Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 1989The design of a dynamic positioning system for a multiply-moored vessel with active winches and thrusters is presented. The proposed positioning system is based on Kalman filter and linear optimal control. Its peculiarity is that it contains a scheme which allocates dynamically the control forces between moorings and thrusters.

A Study on Position Mooring System Design for the Vessel Moored by Mooring Lines
IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2015This paper presents the experimental results about position mooring (PM) system applied to the barge ship. The aim of the PM is to maintain the position and motion of the ship's surge and sway directions as desired. In this paper, a system consisting of a barge vessel and mooring lines is mathematically modeled.

Switching control for thruster-assisted position mooring
Control Engineering Practice, 2009The position mooring (PM) for marine vessels contains several controllers, such as heading, damping, restoring and mean force controllers which could be activated or deactivated depending on the environmental and operational conditions. This paper proposes to integrate these controllers into a switching control system.

Integrity Assessment of Mooring Systems Using Position Measurements
Offshore Technology Conference, 2020Abstract Floating Production Systems (FPS) remain on station many years without dry docking. The mooring lines, which ensure station keeping, are designed to last the entire service life of the FPS. However, many mooring line failures or premature replacements have occurred in the past [1].

Dynamic Positioning in Single-Point Moorings
All Days, 1983ABSTRACT This paper deals with the concept of and a system for complete control of the slowly varying bow motion of a bow-moored ship using dynamic positioning. System performance is shown by simulated case studies with an offshore 1oading tanker.

Mooring positioning performance of jack-up platform
Ships and Offshore Structures, 2019This study focussed on the mooring positioning of a jack-up platform. A numerical analysis was performed using ANSYS to examine the performance of a mooring system in time and frequency domains.

Study on optimizing influence of mooring angle in multi-point mooring positioning system
2018 Chinese Control And Decision Conference (CCDC), 2018In this paper, a method for calculating the static restoring force of mooring system is proposed to optimize the mooring angle and meet the strength requirements of mooring lines. Using this method, the influence of mooring angle on the static restoring force and the rotation of the platform and the tension uniformity of all mooring lines is studied ...

From Soft Mooring System to Active Positioning in Laboratory Experiments.
Volume 6B: Ocean Engineering, 2020Abstract This paper presents an active positioning system aimed at replacing the classical “passive” soft horizontal mooring system used in seakeeping tests of floating structures. We discuss the limitations of the passive approach, present the main components of the active system, and demonstrate its ability to reproduce results ...

The Application of Dynamic Positioning for Moored Tankers
Offshore Technology Conference, 1987ABSTRACT The hawser tension in a mooring system is classically decomposed into three components: mean, lowfrequency and wave-frequency. The low-frequency component is often the most significant contribution. This component is produced by relatively small second-order wave forces whose frequency coincides with the ...
