DIAGNOSIS AND FAULT-TOLERANT CONTROL FOR THRUSTER-ASSISTED POSITION MOORING
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007Abstract Development of fault-tolerant control systems is crucial to maintain safe operation of offshore installations. The objective of this paper is to develop a fault- tolerant control for thruster-assisted position mooring (PM) system with faults occurring in the mooring lines.

Reliability Methods for Deepwater Position-Mooring Design and Analysis
Offshore Technology Conference, 2001ABSTRACT This paper describes the reliability methods for design and analysis of position mooring systems with various degrees of complexity and with a particular emphasis on deepwater applications. The limit state design and safety factor formats for position mooring systems of various floating installations are ...

A Consistent Hydrodynamic Theory for Moored and Positioned Vessels
Journal of Ship Research, 1982The motion of a moored, or positioned, vessel under the influence of waves can be decomposed into a large-amplitude, slowly varying part and a small-amplitude, fast varying part. A consistent theory can be formulated, therefore, based on a multiple time scale expansion, together with an amplitude expansion of the general governing equations.

Fault Monitooring and Fault Recovery Control for Position Moored Tanker
2009This paper addresses fault tolerant control for position mooring of a shuttle tanker operating in the North Sea. A complete framework for fault diagnosis is presented but the loss of a sub-sea mooring line buoyancy element is given particular attention, since this fault could lead to line breakage and risky abortion of an oil-loading operation.
