The 17 min orbital period in the Ultra Compact X-ray Binary 4U 0513-40

open access: yes, 2011
The ultracompact low-mass X-ray binary 4U 0513-40 in the globular cluster NGC1851 exhibits large amplitude X-ray flux variations with spectral changes from low/hard to high/soft states which have not been reported previously in other ultracompact X-ray ...

Numerical Simulation of Nano Scanning in Intermittent-Contact Mode AFM under Q control

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate nano scanning in tapping mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) under quality (Q) control via numerical simulations performed in SIMULINK. We focus on the simulation of whole scan process rather than the simulation of cantilever dynamics and ...

Wireless Power Transfer Modalities for Implantable Bioelectronics: Electromagnetic, Acoustic, and Magneto‐Dynamic Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review traces the evolution of wireless power transfer (WPT) for implantable medical devices, spanning electromagnetic, magnetoelectric, acoustic, and magneto‐dynamic systems. Quantitative comparisons of power, distance, and device scale highlight trade‐offs across modalities, while emerging hybrid mechanisms reveal strategies to overcome ...

Strongly Graded Modules and Positively Graded Modules which are Unique Factorization Modules

open access: yesInternational Electronic Journal of Algebra
Let $M=\oplus_{n\in \mathbb{Z}}M_{n}$ be a strongly graded module over strongly graded ring $D=\oplus_{n\in \mathbb{Z}} D_{n}$. In this paper, we prove that if $M_{0}$ is a unique factorization module (UFM for short) over $D_{0}$ and $D$ is a unique factorization domain (UFD for short), then $M$ is a UFM over $D$.

Disrupting J‐Aggregation in Triazatruxene Dimers to Develop Responsive Luminescent Inks for Anti‐Counterfeiting Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This study investigates the stimulus‐responsive behavior of trialkylated triazatruxene dimers for third‐generation luminescent security inks. In particular, the derivative with flexible dodecyl chains displays high‐contrast, reversible color changes upon heating or shear, driven by liquid crystalline phase transitions and involving J ...

Coherent Raman Imaging of Live Muscle Sarcomeres Assisted by SFG Microscopy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
In this study, we used spectrally focused coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (spCARS) microscopy assisted by sum-frequency generation (SFG) to monitor the variations in the structural morphology and molecular vibrations of a live muscle of ...

Fiber Bragg Gratings with Micro‐Engineered Temperature Coefficients

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are intrinsically responsive to temperature and strain simultaneously. In this research, low‐loss FBGs with micro‐engineered temperature coefficients are fabricated, utilizing refractive index liquid‐filled microchannels in the cladding.

Positive definite kernels and Hilbert C*-modules [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 1997
A theory of positive definite kernels in the context of Hilbert C*-modules is presented. Applications are given, including a representation of a Hilbert C*-module as a concrete space of operators and a construction of the exterior tensor product of two Hilbert C*-modules.
