Confronting Positionality

open access: yes, 1969
Drawing on a multiplicity of learning, teaching and educational experiences, I argue that understanding positionality, or the specificity of each individual, triggers necessary unlearning.

A Hybrid Bioprinting–Microfabrication Approach to Controllable Multitype Spheroid Arrays for Modeling Tumor Heterogeneity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a “cancer‐in‐a‐well” technology that recreates tumor heterogeneity in vitro using multitype spheroid arrays. Combining bioprinting/microdispensing with microstructured culture devices, the system improves drug screening and modeling of tumor complexity.

Cultural "Insiders" and the Issue of Positionality in Qualitative Migration Research: Moving "Across" and Moving "Along" Researcher-Participant Divides

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2006
Positionality has, to-date, been conceptualised by social scientists as a central component in the process of qualitative (and to an extent quantitative) data collection.

Why Positionality Matters in Deaf Education Research

open access: yes, 2017
The positionality of any researcher influences the data collection of their research directly or indirectly, which in turn has an impact on the research being conducted.

Advances in 3D Bioprinting for Breast Cancer Modeling: Tumor Microenvironment, Metastasis, and Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional bioprinting transforms breast cancer modeling from simple constructs into spatially organized, multicellular, perfused, and patient‐derived platforms. This review shows how bioinks, cellular composition, architecture, and flow govern tumor behavior and drug response, while revealing why complexity alone is insufficient without ...

Challenges of Multilingual Encounters in Interview Settings: Reflections on Translanguaging in Qualitative Migration Studies

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research
Drawing on our own experience from an empirical study on refugee family reunification in France and Germany, we examine translanguaging in transnational interview settings.

NeuroVisio SyncPatch: A Skin‐Conformal Multimodal EMG–Motion Sensing Platform for Quantitative Neuromuscular Rehabilitation and Performance Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeuroVisio SyncPatch integrates skin‐conformal electromyography (EMG) electrodes with camera‐tracked markers to jointly assess muscle activity and three‐dimensional knee kinematics during rehabilitation. Parallel feedback pathways provide real‐time kinematic guidance during movement and post‐trial neuromuscular feedback.

Rational Control of Antibody Orientation for Enhancing Sensitivity and Specificity in Lateral Flow Immunoassays With Clinical Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Systematic investigation of antibody orientation strategies in lateral flow immunoassays reveals that a para‐substituted (aminomethyl)phenylboronic acid mediated probe (P‐6) combined with a biotin‐streptavidin test‐line modification achieves a synergistic 14‐ to 19‐fold sensitivity gain over conventional conjugation. Furthermore, multiplexed detection,

The Performative Manifestation of a Research Identity: Storying the Journey Through Poetry

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2008
Cultivating a research identity is an arduous journey. We are told to situate ourselves—know where we are coming from—but it is rare that people share their experiences and provide insight into a journey that indubitably shapes your research.

‘Ugh, it’s a difficult topic’: Positionality statements as information use in information and library science research

open access: yesInformation Research: An International Electronic Journal
Introduction. The effects of information use remain understudied. We fill a key gap in the literature by conducting an empirical study of positionality statement use in information and library science (ILS) research.
