Riesz bases and positive operators on Hilbert space

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2003
It is shown that a normalized Riesz basis for a Hilbert space H (i.e., the isomorphic image of an orthonormal basis in H) induces in a natural way a new, but equivalent, inner product on H in which it is an orthonormal basis, thereby extending the sense ...

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Almost Existentially Closed Models in Positive Logic

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences
This paper explores the concept of almost positively closed models in the framework of positive logic. To accomplish this, we initially define various forms of the positive amalgamation property, such as h-amalgamation and symmetric and asymmetric ...

Guiding AlphaFold to predict how Munc13‐1 opens Syntaxin‐1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The syntaxin‐1 Habc‐domain (orange), linker (pink) and SNARE motif (yellow) form a closed conformation that binds to Munc18‐1 (violet) and is opened by the Munc13‐1 MUN domain (cyan) to form the SNARE complex that triggers neurotransmitter release.

The molecular basis of high duty-cycle echolocation in bats, and its role in the divergence of populations and species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
PhD thesisHow populations diverge and form new species in the face of gene flow is a key question in evolutionary biology. Recent research suggests this may be possible where the same traits affect the ecological niche and are involved in assortative ...

Origins of Negative and Positive Electromechanical Response of Oligopeptide Piezoelectrics

open access: yes, 2019
In response to an applied electric field, materials and even individual molecules can exhibit electromechanical response. Previous work has demonstrated the piezoelectric distortion of polar organic crystals, biomaterials, and even single molecular ...

PERUMUSAN KONSEP IDENTITAS KABUPATEN SIDOARJO UNTUK CITY BRANDING MELALUI PENDEKATAN COMPETITIVE IDENTITY

open access: yesJADECS (Journal of Art, Design, Art Education and Culture Studies), 2020
Identity is an important aspect in the formation of a city branding. The identity that is used as a basis in the formation of city branding must be unique compared to other cities.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Operators not positive with respect to any basis

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we use an equivalent form of Titchmarsh's Convolution theorem to show that the Volterra operator is an example of a quasi-nilpotent operator on a Hilbert space that is not positive with respect to any basis of L2(0, 1). In proving this, it

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...
