Climate Change Mitigation in the Dairy Sector: Uncovering Heterogeneity Through Eco‐Efficiency Clubs

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Combining climate change goals with economic targets is crucial for the dairy sector, which is a significant contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide. In this paper, we assess economic and climate change implications of dairy production with panel data of Irish dairy farms from 2013 to 2021.

Prognostic significance of tumor microenvironment assessed by machine learning algorithm in surgically resected non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesCancer Reports, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Background A methodology to assess the immune microenvironment (IME) of non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has not been established, and the prognostic impact of IME factors is not yet clear. Aims This study aimed to assess the IME factors and evaluate their prognostic values. Methods and Results We assessed CD8+ tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (

Convergence of Object Focused Simultaneous Estimation of Optical Flow and State Dynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2014
The purpose of this study is to prove the convergence of the simultaneous estimation of the optical flow and object state (SEOS) method. The SEOS method utilizes dynamic object parameter information when calculating optical flow in tracking a moving ...

Do Politically Motivated Import Bans Leave Lasting Scars? Evidence From Australian–Chinese Beef Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In May 2020, China abruptly suspended imports from several major Australian beef processors, escalating a diplomatic dispute between the two countries. This trade measure disrupted one of the largest beef export relationships in the world almost overnight.

Clinical Significance of PD‐L1 and HLA Expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Response to Immunotherapy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study evaluated immune‐related biomarkers in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors after postoperative recurrence. PD‐L1 expression in tumor‐associated macrophages and tumor cells, together with HLA class I downregulation and HLA‐DR expression, were associated with favorable responses to immunotherapy.

Decomposition of H*-Algebra Valued Negative Definite Functions on Topological *-Semigroups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2006
In the present paper, among other results, a decomposition formula is given for the w-bounded continuous negative definite functions of a topological *-semigroup S with a weight function w into a proper H*-algebra A in terms of w-bounded continuous ...

Marachkov type stability conditions for non-autonomous functional differential equations with unbounded right-hand sides

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2015
Sufficient conditions for uniform equi-asymptotic stability and uniform asymptotic stability of the zero solution of the retarded equation \[x'(t) = f(t, x_t), \qquad (x_t(s):= x(t+s),\ -h\le s\le 0)\] are given.

A Unifying Approach to Self‐Organizing Systems Interacting via Conservation Laws

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The article develops a unified way to model and analyze self‐organizing systems whose interactions are constrained by conservation laws. It represents physical/biological/engineered networks as graphs and builds projection operators (from incidence/cycle structure) that enforce those constraints and decompose network variables into constrained versus ...

Explaining the Origin of Negative Poisson's Ratio in Amorphous Networks With Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review summarizes how machine learning (ML) breaks the “vicious cycle” in designing auxetic amorphous networks. By transitioning from traditional “black‐box” optimization to an interpretable “AI‐Physics” closed‐loop paradigm, ML is shown to not only discover highly optimized structures—such as all‐convex polygon networks—but also unveil hidden ...

Subequivalence relations and positive-definite functions

open access: yesGroups, Geometry, and Dynamics, 2009
We study a positive-definite function associated with a countable, measure-preserving equivalence relation, which can be used to measure quantitatively the proximity of subequivalence relations. Combined with a co-inducing construction introduced by Epstein and earlier work of Ioana, this can be used to construct many mixing actions of countable groups
