Positive Definiteness and Stability of Interval Matrices

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1994
Interval matrices are considered that are positive definite, positive semidefinite, Hurwitz stable or Schur stable. Necessary and sufficient conditions for each of these properties are investigated. The conditions are based on corresponding properties of a finite number of real test matrices that are derived from the interval matrix under consideration.

Eigenvalues and Positive Definite Matrices

2012
Eigenvalues and eigenvectors are defined. The Spectral Theorem for symmetric matrices is proved. Positive definite matrices are introduced. Idempotent matrices are defined and it is shown that for such matrices the rank equals the trace. Schur complement is defined and its application to proving characterizations of positive definite matrices is shown.

Spectral Perturbation Bounds for Positive Definite Matrices

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1997
For positive definite matrices this paper studies relative perturbation bounds for eigenvalues, eigenvectors and singular values and vectors. Some of the known perturbation bounds are strengthened and their proofs unified by rewriting additive perturbations multiplicatively.
