Quantifying China's Regional Economic Complexity [PDF]
China has experienced an outstanding economic expansion during the past decades, however, literature on non-monetary metrics that reveal the status of China's regional economic development are still lacking. In this paper, we fill this gap by quantifying the economic complexity of China's provinces through analyzing 25 years' firm data.

Comprehensive cancer centre (CCCs) and CCCs of Excellence (CCCoE) integration in healthcare. Through outreach to surrounding community hospitals, CCCs enable wider access to top‐clinical cancer treatments and care, thereby facilitating the swift enrolment of patients into data‐rich clinical trials (PI‐initiated trials testing new concepts, drug ...

A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Priming prosocial behavior and expectations in response to the Covid-19 pandemic -- Evidence from an online experiment [PDF]
This paper studies whether and how differently projected information about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic affects individuals' prosocial behavior and expectations on future outcomes. We conducted an online experiment with British participants (N=961) when the UK introduced its first lockdown and the outbreak was on its growing stage.

Solid State Defect Emitters With no Electrical Activity
Point defects may introduce in‐gap states that alter electrical properties and lower the optical excitation threshold. It is thus widely assumed that solid‐state defect emitters alter the host conductivity. This study demonstrates, on a particular defect in 4H silicon carbide, that a yet unrecognized class of point defects exists that are optically ...

Processes analogous to ecological interactions and dispersal shape the dynamics of economic activities [PDF]
The processes of ecological interactions, dispersal and mutations shape the dynamics of biological communities, and analogous eco-evolutionary processes acting upon economic entities have been proposed to explain economic change. This hypothesis is compelling because it explains economic change through endogenous mechanisms, but it has not been ...

Individual position diversity in dependence socioeconomic networks increases economic output [PDF]
The availability of big data recorded from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the potential connection between individuals' network positions and their economic outputs. We use a statistical filtering method to construct dependence networks from weighted friendship networks of ...
