On Positive Externality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper fills the gap of modeling positive externality cases when private marginal cost is higher than social marginal cost. Within this unique type of divergence of marginal costs two cases are scrutinized: social marginal benefit being higher than private marginal benefit, and vice versa, social marginal benefit being lower than private marginal ...

Positive Invariance of Subset of Positive Externalities

2020 European Control Conference (ECC), 2020
The notion of subset of positive externalities is explored. The subset of positive externalities for games by two pseudo-gradient agents with quadratic payoffs is characterized. It is shown that only a certain subset of the subset of positive externalities can be a positively invariant set of the pseudo-gradient dynamics.

Position Auctions with Externalities

2014
This paper presents models for predicted click-through rates in position auctions that take into account the externalities ads shown in other positions may impose on the probability that an ad in a particular position receives a click. We present a general axiomatic methodology for how click probabilities are affected by the qualities of the ads in the

Identification of externally positive systems

2017 IEEE 56th Annual Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2017
We consider identification of externally positive linear discrete-time systems from input/output data. The proposed method is formulated as a semidefinite program, and is guaranteed to identify models that are ellipsoidal cone-invariant and, consequently, externally positive.

The position of the external ear in Turner's syndrome

Clinical Genetics, 1976
The cephalometric roentgenograms of persons with the syndrome of XO gonadal dysgenesis and its variants, and of those with Noonan's syndrome, were compared with a control sample of unaffected females matched for age. Posterior craniofacial relationships differ between XO and normal individuals, particularly in the region of the external auditory meatus,

A wireless navigation system with no external positions

2015 IEEE 8th International Conference on Intelligent Data Acquisition and Advanced Computing Systems: Technology and Applications (IDAACS), 2015
A wireless navigation system (WNS) is proposed that autonomously coordinates the motions of cooperating robots. The proposed WNS employs both Bluetooth technologies and wireless routing protocols that can discover routes around obstacles and other barriers to communications.

The positive externalities of leveraged buyouts

Journal of Banking & Finance, 2022
Abstract We show that private equity-sponsored public-to-private buyouts in the US evoke positive externality effects among their targets’ industry peers. Industrial organization and strategic theory suggest buyouts may impact their industry peers as a result of increased takeover threat and competitive pressure felt by the peers.

External Sphincterotomy at the 12 O’Clock Position

Journal of Urology, 1979
Transurethral resection of the external sphincter was done at the 12 o'clock position 61 times in 60 men. There was a 2.8 per cent incidence of postoperative impotence and a 75 per cent cure of vesicoureteral reflux but there was only a 65 per cent success rate of decreasing post-voiding residual urine after 6 months. The techniques and applications of

Positive realness is not equivalent to external positivity

2009 IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation, 2009
This paper proves that external positivity and positive realness are not equivalent properties as it is claimed in some relevant previous bibliography.
