Extreme positive linear maps onC *-algebras

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift, 1988
Let A be a unital \(C^ *\)-algebra and let B be a von Neumann algebra. Let S(A,B) be the convex set of unital positive linear maps between A and B. We prove that the extreme points of S(A,B) are exactly the unital algebra homomorphisms if and only if A is abelian and, either B is abelian or dim A\(

Some Fixed Point Results on Relational Quasi Partial Metric Spaces and Application to Non-Linear Matrix Equations

open access: yesSymmetry, 2021
We introduce a qϱ-implicit contractive condition by an implicit relation on relational quasi partial metric spaces and establish new (unique) fixed point results and periodic point results based on it.

Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Reducing the Dimensionality of SPD Matrices with Neural Networks in BCI

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In brain–computer interface (BCI)-based motor imagery, the symmetric positive definite (SPD) covariance matrices of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals with discriminative information features lie on a Riemannian manifold, which is currently attracting ...

Pulmonary Dysfunction Is Associated With Sleep Study Abnormalities in Children With Sickle Cell Disease: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Pulmonary dysfunction and sleep abnormalities are common in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) and are associated with worse clinical outcomes. Whether spirometry abnormalities are associated with polysomnography (PSG) findings remains unclear.

Prevalence and Trajectory of Household Material Hardship Among Children With Advanced Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Families of children with advanced cancer living in poverty experience inferior outcomes including poor parent mental health and worse child quality of life. Household material hardship (HMH: food, housing, transportation, and/or utility insecurity) is a modifiable poverty exposure—and potential intervention target—that ...

On positive linear maps preserving invertibility

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1984
A positive linear map \(\Phi\) between two \(C^*\)-algebras is a Jordan homomorphism if \(\Phi\) preserves invertibility and the range of \(\Phi\) is a \(C^*\)-algebra. A counterexample is given for the case that the range of \(\Phi\) is not assumed to be a \(C^*\)-algebra; this answers a question raised by \textit{B. Russo} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc.

Quantitative susceptibility mapping in the brain reflects spatial expression of genes involved in iron homeostasis and myelination

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping
Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is an MRI modality used to non‐invasively measure iron content in the brain. Iron exhibits a specific anatomically varying pattern of accumulation in the brain across individuals.

A Precision Agriculture Approach for Durum Wheat Yield Assessment Using Remote Sensing Data and Yield Mapping

open access: yesAgronomy, 2019
The availability of big data in agriculture, enhanced by free remote sensing data and on-board sensor-based data, provides an opportunity to understand within-field and year-to-year variability and promote precision farming practices for site-specific ...
