In the baseline design of the International Linear Collider (ILC) an undulator-based source is foreseen for the positron source. In this study the energy deposition in the pulsed flux concentrator (FC) of positron source is calculated for the ILC at 250 ...

CX3CL1 in Early Detection of Alzheimer's Disease: Plasma Dynamics Across Age and Disease Stages
ABSTRACT Backgrounds Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by amyloid‐beta plaques, tau tangles, and neuroinflammation. C‐X3‐C motif chemokine ligand 1 (CX3CL1, also known as fractalkine), a neuroimmune chemokine implicated in AD pathogenesis, shows inconsistent alterations in plasma/serum across studies.

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is critical for normal brain structure and function, and its brain concentration depends on dietary DHA content and hepatic conversion from its dietary derived n-3 precursor, a-linolenic acid (α-LNA).

Positron Emulator for Commisioning ILC Positron Source [PDF]
The gamma-ray based positron source [1] is an attractive option for the International Linear Collider (ILC) positron option because of the less stringent target requirement and the possibility to provide polarization. The drawback is the fact that the positron accelerator system including positron linac and damping ring can not be fully commissioned ...

Objective The objectives of this study were to evaluate the correlation and agreement between ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) in measuring ascending aorta diameter in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and to investigate the development of new ascending aortic aneurysms in patients with newly diagnosed GCA.

Alternative Positron-Target Design for Electron-Positron Colliders [PDF]
Current electron-positron linear colliders are limited in luminosity by the number of positrons which can be generated from targets presently used. This paper examines the possibility of using an alternate wire-target geometry for the production of positrons via an electron-induced electromagnetic cascade shower. 39 refs., 38 figs., 5 tabs.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Research Progress of Melanoma Imaging with Radionuclide Agents
In comparison with CT, ultrasonography, MRI et al, scintigraphic imaging have the advantages of high specificity and recognizes lesions and structure-function of the receptor and metabolism in molecular level, which could diagnose melanoma and its ...

Structures in the cosmic ray energy spectra [PDF]
All the components of cosmic rays have 'structure' in their energy spectra at some level, ie deviations from a simple power law, and their examination is relevant to the origin of the particles.
