Investigation of the chemical vicinity of crystal defects in ion-irradiated Mg and AZ31 with coincident Doppler broadening spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2007
Crystal defects in magnesium and magnesium based alloys like AZ31 are of major importance for the understanding of their macroscopic properties. We have investigated defects and their chemical surrounding in Mg and AZ31 on an atomic scale with Doppler ...

Principles of positron porosimetry

open access: yesNukleonika, 2015
The paper deals with positron porosimetry (PP), which is based on positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). The numerical analysis of positron lifetime spectra for PP is more demanding than in most of other applications of PALS.

Chemically Accurate Prediction of CO2 Adsorption Thermodynamics in Metal–Organic Framework CALF‐20: Complementary Ab Initio Modeling and Grand Canonical Monte Carlo Simulations

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Ab initio thermodynamics and GCMC simulations reveal a cooperative two‐step CO2 pore filling mechanism in CALF‐20. The study captures adsorption energetics and loading‐dependent structural changes, reproducing experimental isotherms with chemically accurate predictions.

Positron lifetime study of ion-irradiated tungsten: Ion type and dose effects

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
Polycrystalline recrystallized tungsten samples were irradiated with 7.5 MeV Si ions and 9 MeV Cu ions to three different damage levels (0.01, 0.1, 0.5 dpa at 200 nm depth) at 295 K.

Characterization of vacancy defects in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 by positron annihilation spectroscopy

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
The photovoltaic performance of Cu(In1-x,Gax)Se2 (CIGS) materials is commonly assumed to be degraded by the presence of vacancy-related defects. However, experimental identification of specific vacancy defects remains challenging.

A Positron Lifetime Study of Cooling and Natural Aging of Solutionized Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 2, January 21, 2026.
The process during cooling of Al–Mg and Al–Mg–Si alloys from the solutionizing temperature down to 20 °C is interrupted. These states are analyzed with positron lifetime spectroscopy to trace the processes during cooling. In different temperature ranges, two stages of vacancy loss and solute clustering are identified.

A trap-based pulsed positron beam optimised for positronium laser spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a pulsed positron beam that is optimised for positronium (Ps) laser-spectroscopy experiments. The system is based on a two-stage Surko-type buffer gas trap that produces 4 ns wide pulses containing up to 5 × 105 positrons at a rate of 0.5-10 ...

Effect of Dissolved Hydrogen on Polyamide 11: Observation During Hydrogen Desorption Process After Decompression at Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 3, January 15, 2026.
Dissolved hydrogen‐induced plasticization of polyamide 11 (PA11) detected as a decrease in flexural modulus (E f) using Cyclic Three‐Point Bending (Cyc‐3PB). ABSTRACT The effect of dissolved hydrogen on polyamide 11 (PA11) after decompression from a 90 MPa hydrogen gas environment was investigated. Structural analyses using wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction
