Defect Analysis of the β– to γ–Ga2O3 Phase Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of defects at all the relevant stages of the β$\beta$‐ to γ$\gamma$‐Ga2O3 polymorph transition is investigated using a multi method approach. The positron annihilation spectroscopy based results show that the defect density decreases after the transition, and that changes in defect configuration within the γ phase occur with increasing ...

Positron Annihilation in the Nuclear Outflows of the Milky Way

open access: yes, 2017
Observations of soft gamma rays emanating from the Milky Way from SPI/\textit{INTEGRAL} reveal the annihilation of $\sim2\times10^{43}$ positrons every second in the Galactic bulge.

Ion‐Selective Microporous Membranes via One‐Step Copolymerization Enable High‐Performance Redox Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step copolymerization strategy is developed to produce low‐cost microporous ion exchange membranes that boost both the efficiency and lifespan of flow batteries. When combined with organic electrolytes in aqueous systems, these membranes enable safe and cheap flow battery energy storage, supporting the widespread integration of renewable

Whole-body synthesis-secretion rates of long-chain n-3 PUFAs from circulating unesterified α-linolenic acid in unanesthetized rats

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2009
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), long-chain n-3 PUFAs important for brain and heart function, can be obtained from dietary fish products or by liver synthesis from α-linolenic acid (α-LNA).

Dynamics of positrons during relativistic electron runaway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sufficiently strong electric fields in plasmas can accelerate charged particles to relativistic energies. In this paper we describe the dynamics of positrons accelerated in such electric fields, and calculate the fraction of created positrons that become

Cold Quad‐Modal Nanocomplex for Precise and Quantitative In Vivo Stem Cell Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal albumin–bismuth sulfide–superparamagnetic iron oxide (ABS) nanocomplexes are developed for stem cell tracking across four different imaging modalities: MRI, MPI, MSOT, and CT. Combining its flexibility with high sensitivity, this quad‐modal imaging agent enables a robust quantification of ABS‐labeled stem cells in vivo.

A QED Model for Non-thermal Emission from SGRs and AXPs

open access: yes, 2005
Previously, we showed that, owing to effects arising from quantum electrodynamics (QED), magnetohydrodynamic fast modes of sufficient strength will break down to form electron-positron pairs while traversing the magnetospheres of strongly magnetised ...
