Positron and Positronium Collisions

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1995
Abstract Recent results concerning the interaction of positrons with atoms and molecules are presented. In this context, progress in the study of ionization, including electron capture, by positron impact is discussed, in particular with respect to channel-coupling, near threshold and correlation effects.

Decay of the positronium molecule into a positronium atom and photons

Soviet Physics Journal, 1981
Decays of the positronium molecule Ps2 into para- or orthopositronium Ps in the ground state and photons are investigated. The differential probabilities of the decays are determined. The total probabilitiesw 2γ (Ps2) andw 3γ (Ps2) of Ps2 ...

The chemistry of positronium. IV. Quests on the inhibition of positronium in aqueous solutions

Chemical Physics, 1978
Abstract The inhibition of positronium in aqueous solutions of Cl − and NO 3 − alone or mixed is discussed. An attempt is made to fit the experimental results using test functions, in terms of the spur model and of the kinetic theory of hot atoms.

Positronium lifetime calculation

Physical Review D, 1993
A new approach to a positronium lifetime calculation is proposed. The method is completely relativistic and gauge invariant. The full positronium width is determined through several parameters connected with a dynamics of forming the bound state. These parameters play the same role as structure functions in the case of inclusive deep-inelastic lepton ...

Relativistic positronium production: Positronium particle physics

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2006
Abstract Relativistic positronium production is a theoretical development started by me [Olsen, H.A., 1986. Phys. Rev. D 33, 2033.] as an attempt to obtain beams of singlet and triplet positronium. In this way positronium experiments can be performed as in particle physics, which means that positronium is observed in vacuum and experiments are ...

Magnetic quenching of positronium

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1996
The positron-electron bound system in condensed matter (Ps) is a probe of primary importance for the investigation of the microscopic structure of liquids and non-metallic solids. The physical properties of Ps in matter are generally different with respect to Psin vacuo, owing to the interactions with the surrounding electrons.

Free positronium radiations

Physical Review Letters, 1988
The principles of a new high-energy photon source, ``free positronium radiation,'' are presented. It enables us to generate tunable monochromatic photon beams with energies of 2\ensuremath{\gamma}${m}_{0}$${c}^{2}$ and (${\ensuremath{\alpha}}^{2}$/2)\ensuremath{\gamma}${m}_{0}$${c}^{2}$.

Creation of relativistic positronium

Physical Review D, 1986
The creation of bound electron-positron states, positronium, by photons in the field of an atom is calculated.
