Non-BPS D-Branes in Light-Cone Green-Schwarz Formalism

open access: yes, 2004
Non-BPS D-branes are difficult to describe covariantly in a manifestly supersymmetric formalism. For definiteness we concentrate on type IIB string theory in flat background in light-cone Green-Schwarz formalism.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

“Tropological” possible worlds: Allegorical extratextual referentiality of postmodern space in Calvino’s Invisible Cities

open access: yesCogent Arts & Humanities, 2018
Through the poststructuralist interdisciplinary adaptations of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, a plethora of ontological literary theories have been developed as the cognitive studies of the minds of the authors, readers and characters in terms of “state of ...

Obraz przeszłości w percepcji magiczno-mitycznej, czyli pamięć w działaniu

open access: yesPoliteja, 2015
The aim of the paper is to identify a specific type of cognitive conduct, which can be called magical-mythical perception and thinking. It is based on a relevant habitus and its principle is indistinctness (blending, blurring), where differences between ...

String-Like Description of Gravity and Possible Applications for F-theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The Lorentz harmonic formulation of D-dimensional bosonic p-brane theory with $D\geq (p+1)(p+2)/2$ coupled to an antisymmetric tensor field of rank d=(p+1) provides the dynamical ground for the description of d=(p+1) dimensional Gravity.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

String effects and field theory puzzles with supersymmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We investigate field theory puzzles occuring in the interplay between supersymmetry and duality in the presense of rotational isometries (also known as non-triholomorphic in hyper-Kahler geometry).

A toy model of open membrane field theory in constant 3-form flux [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Based on an explicit computation of the scattering amplitude of four open membranes in a constant 3-form background, we construct a toy model of the field theory for open membranes in the large C field limit.

Towards a multi-actor theory of public value co-creation

open access: yes, 2017
This essay suggests changes to the theory of public value and, in particular, the strategic triangle framework, in order to adapt it to an emerging world where policy makers and managers in the public, private, voluntary and informal community sectors ...
