Targeting Senescence with Apigenin Improves Chemotherapeutic Efficacy and Ameliorates Age‐Related Conditions in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a plant‐derived flavonoid, apigenin directly targets PRDX6 to inhibit its PLA2 activity, blocking HSPA8 activation and disturbing its interactions with ATM and p38MAPK in senescent cells. By dampening wide spectrum expression of the SASP, apigenin prevents loss of tissue homeostasis, improves organ function, and alleviates multiple age‐related ...

Some remarks on a Künneth formula for foliated de Rham cohomology [PDF]

open access: yesPacific Journal of Math., Vol. 252 (2011), No. 2, 257-274
The K\"unneth formula is one of the basic tools for computing cohomology. Its validity for foliated cohomology, that is, for the tangential de Rham cohomology of a foliated manifold, is investigated. The main difficulty encountered is the non-Hausdorff nature of the foliated cohomology spaces, forbidding the completion of the tensor product.

A Bayesian homogeneity test for comparing Poisson populations

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 38, Issue 6, Page 1158-1171, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract For a wide class of daily applications in industrial quality control, there may be interest in comparing several Poisson means. A large catalogue of frequentist procedures for this hypothesis testing problem is available. However, some common drawbacks of them are their low power, interpretation of the p$$ p $$‐values for multiple comparison ...

A Local Inverse Formula and a Factorization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
When a matrix has a banded inverse there is a remarkable formula that quickly computes that inverse, using only local information in the original matrix. This local inverse formula holds more generally, for matrices with sparsity patterns that are examples of chordal graphs or perfect eliminators.

High‐Fidelity Computational Microscopy via Feature‐Domain Phase Retrieval

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative phase retrieval framework, termed FD‐PR, is uniquely established in the image's feature domain through the feature‐extracted, physical‐driven regression with interfaces for combining physics and image processing constraints. FD‐PR takes advantage of invariance components of an image against presences of model mismatch and uncertainty ...

High‐Speed 3D Printing Coupled with Machine Learning to Accelerate Alloy Development for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work shows combining high‐throughput experiments of metal 3D printing with data science‐driven prediction leads to faster alloy development. Researchers develop steel alloy specimens specifically for 3D printing by adjusting aluminum content (0–10 wt.%) and energy input during printing.

Annexin A3 Represses Endothelial Permeability and Inflammation During Sepsis via Actin Cytoskeleton Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Annexin A3 (ANXA3) plays an endogenous protective role in endothelial dysfunction in sepsis by stabilizing the actin cytoskeleton, modulating cell permeability, and inhibiting pATF2/CD62E inflammatory signaling. Abstract Increased endothelial permeability and a dysregulated inflammatory response play key roles in organ damage in sepsis.

Functional normalizing flow for statistical inverse problems of partial differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Inverse problems of partial differential equations are ubiquitous across various scientific disciplines and can be formulated as statistical inference problems using Bayes' theorem. To address large-scale problems, it is crucial to develop discretization-invariant algorithms, which can be achieved by formulating methods directly in infinite-dimensional
