Post-buckling analysis of composite delaminated beams

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1991
Abstract A general one-dimensional geometrical non-linear model of a composite delaminated beam under arbitrary axial and transverse loading for any boundary conditions is derived for predicting the post-buckling behavior. The model comprises nonlinear equations based on the Von Karman kinematic approach, suitable for checking the effect of ...

Post-Buckling Analysis of Stiffened Laminated Panel

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1988
An analytical-numerical procedure is applied to investigate the post-buckling behavior of a composite laminated stiffened panel. The panel is modeled by plate elements for which the nonlinear equations are derived (via a variational principle) in terms of the lateral displacement and Airy stress function, and treated by resolving the variables into ...

Multiscale Buckling and Post-Buckling Analysis: A Comprehensive Review

Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2018
Buckling and post-buckling have been expensively considered as critical limit states of slender/thin members over the centuries. Recent research interests have been shifted to exploit the potential "smart applications" of buckling-induced elastic instability at multiscale.

Initial post-buckling analysis of a fixed–fixed strut

Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, 2019
In this paper, the initial post-buckling of a fixed–fixed strut in compression at the first bifurcation point is analyzed. Using the Fourier series of the lateral deflection, the second variation of the potential energy is proved, analytically, to be semi-positive definite when the compression is equal to the Euler critical load.

A viscous approach to post buckling analysis

Engineering Structures, 1981
Abstract This paper outlines an iterative method for post-buckling problems which treats the structure as viscoelastic and uses artificial damping. The load does not have to be increased by increments, and when it is applied instantaneously, the iterative solution converges rapidly to a state of equilibrium.

Post-buckling analysis of piles by perturbation method

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2010
To investigate the critical buckling load and post-buckling behavior of an axially loaded pile entirely embedded in soil, the non-linear large deflection differential equation for a pinned pile, based on the Winkler-model and the discretionary distribution function of the foundation coefficient along pile shaft, was established by energy method ...

Post-buckling analysis of an elastically-restrained column

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1970
Abstract The nonlinear problem of the asymmetric snap-through buckling of a cantilever column that is restrained at its tip by a stiff, inclined wire, and is loaded laterally by a tip force, admits an exact solution which was determined previously.

Analysis of post‐buckling branches at multiple symmetric bifurcations

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2001
AbstractA method to analyse and solve symmetric bifurcations by establishing the bifurcation equations using an asymptotic expansion method is presented. The bifurcation equations are obtained using a decomposition of the spaces by means of the theory of Lyapunov–Schmidt. To solve the bifurcation equations an asymptotic expansion method along the lines

On the Post-Buckling Analysis of Thin Elastic Shells

1983

Hygrothermal Post-Buckling Analysis of Laminated Composite Beams

International Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2019
The main goal in this paper is to make analysis of post-buckling of laminated composite beams under hygrothermal effect. In solution of problem, finite element method is utilized with the first shear beam theory. Total Lagrangian approach is used nonlinear kinematic relations.
