Schooling for Democracy: A Common School and a Common University? A Response to “Schooling for Democracy”

open access: yes, 2011
This short paper is a response to Nel Noddings’s article on schooling for democracy. Whilst agreeing with the basic premises of Noddings’s argument, it questions the possibility of parity between academic and vocational tracks given the inequitable ...

Engineering Strain‐Stiffening Granular Hydrogels for 3D‐Printed Tissue‐Mimicry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable strain‐stiffening double‐network granular hydrogel (SDGH) enables independent, region‐specific tuning of toe (EToe) and heel (EHeel) moduli through control of microgel packing and network composition. This platform replicates tissue‐like nonlinear mechanics and allows fabrication of high‐fidelity, multilayered aortic valves with ...

Orbital‐Hybridizable Nanoseed Interphase Enables One‐Minute Rechargeable, Energy‐Dense Anode‐Free Aqueous Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An orbital‐hybridizable nanoseed (OHNS) interphase induces strong orbital hybridization between Zn and carbon edges, accelerating Zn nucleation while suppressing 2D surface diffusion. This interfacial electronic regulation drives uniform, dense, and (002)‐oriented Zn growth, enabling stable and fast charging behavior in anode‐free aqueous Zn batteries.
