ABSTRACT Neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD), are characterized by the pathological aggregation of specific proteins such as amyloid beta (Aβ) and α‐synuclein, respectively. Early detection of these protein aggregates in biological fluids could facilitate timely diagnosis and therapeutic ...

Glyoxylic‐Acetal‐Based Gel‐Polymer Electrolytes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries
A safe electrolyte based on tetraethoxyglyoxal (LE) is combined with a methacrylate polymer matrix. The resulting gel‐polymer electrolyte (GPE) exhibits an increased flash point, suitable ionic conductivity, and a stable performance in lithium‐ion battery cells.

FEC and sulfone‐based co‐solvents are investigated as EC‐free electrolytes for LNMO∥LTO cells. FEC‐containing electrolytes demonstrate enhanced electrochemical stability by stabilizing the CEI and SEI layers, mitigating transition metal migration. Conversely, sulfone electrolytes form thinner CEIs and thick, sulfur‐rich SEIs, which are less effective ...

An atlas of cortical circular RNA expression in Alzheimer disease brains demonstrates clinical and pathological associations. [PDF]
Parietal cortex RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) data were generated from individuals with and without Alzheimer disease (AD; ncontrol = 13; nAD = 83) from the Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center (Knight ADRC).

Uncovering the Electrochemical‐Thermal Coupling Behavior of Li Plating at Elevated Temperatures
The electrochemical‐thermal coupling behavior of Li plating at an elevated temperature of 60°C is studied. A distinctive exothermic peak appears corresponding to the Li plating plateau, while another characteristic exothermic peak during the relaxation stage is observed for the first‐time, attributed to the simultaneous Li stripping and re ...

An investigation of vitamin D metabolism in kiwi (Apteryx mantelli), tuatara (Sphenodon punctatus) and New Zealand sea lion (Phocarctos hookeri) and the relationship of vitamin D metabolism with their life history characteristics : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Veterinary Studies at Massey University, Turitea, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
Vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin, has a wide range of functions in vertebrates. The aim of the study was to determine if the evolutionary history of different animal species affects their predominant route of vitamin D metabolism.

Forensic Iris Image-Based Post-Mortem Interval Estimation
Post-mortem iris recognition is an emerging application of iris-based human identification in a forensic setup. One factor that may be useful in conditioning iris recognition methods is the tissue decomposition level, which is correlated with the post-mortem interval (PMI), \ie the number of hours that have elapsed since death.
