Numerical Investigation of the Seismic Performance of FRP-Reinforced Tunnel Linings Under Dynamic Excitation

open access: yesInfrastructures
Tunnel linings are critical structural components of underground infrastructure, and their seismic performance plays a decisive role in maintaining the serviceability and safety of tunnels.

LOCAL DEFORMATION AND RHEOLOGICAL PARAMETERS BY MEASUREMENTS IN TALAYA STATION GALLERY (BAIKAL REGION)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2015
Tilt measurements have been taken in the underground gallery at Talaya Seismological Station for almost three decades, from March 1985 till 2014. Based on such data, deformation curves were constructed and analysed in the frame of elastic and viscous ...

Banking Development and the Economic Impact of Natural Disasters: From Short to Long Term Effects

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates how financial development and local banking structures shape the economic resilience of communities in the aftermath of natural disasters. Focusing on Italian municipalities hit by earthquakes between 2008 and 2022, we explore the role of banking presence, particularly cooperative banks, in supporting recovery.

Co-seismic landslides susceptibility evaluation of Bayesian random forest considering InSAR deformation: a case study of the Luding Ms6.8 earthquake

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk
Strong earthquakes can frequently trigger a large number of co-seismic landslides. Obtaining an accurate susceptibility map of co-seismic landslides is crucial for post-disaster rescue and reconstruction efforts.

Co-seismic deformation during the M_w 7.3 Aqaba earthquake (1995) from ERS-SAR interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The M_w 7.3 1995 Aqaba earthquake is the largest instrumental earthquake along the Dead Sea Fault. We complement previous seismological studies by analyzing co‐seismic ground displacement from differential interferometry computed from ERS images spanning

New knowledge about shock events that affected the L‐chondrite parent body from two heavily shocked L6 meteorite finds

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

The effect of masonry infill walls on the reinforced concrete frames behavior under lateral load [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The reinforced concrete structures with masonry infill walls are widely used to construct buildings in Algeria, as in many parts of the world. According to earthquake analysis, this type of construction can undergo serious damage under seismic load.

Confirmation of the impact origin of the Late Ordovician Tvären impact structure (southeast Sweden) and emplacement of impactites in a marine setting

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract The Tvären structure in southeastern Sweden has been listed as a confirmed marine‐target impact structure for decades. However, to date, no measurements and/or indexed data of planar deformation features in quartz grains from the structure have been published or any other unequivocal evidence of impact.

MISS diversity from saline lakes of Brazilian Pantanal: Origin, potential of preservation and comparison with examples of the Ediacaran‐Cambrian shallow depositional settings

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT One of the largest wetlands on Earth, the Brazilian Pantanal contains roughly 10 000 natural lakes, about 1000 of which are hypersaline. In these environmentally stressful settings, animal life struggles to survive, while cyanobacteria form extensive mats.

The Seismic Expression of Core Complex‐Style Extensional Detachment Faults in Rifted Margins

open access: yesTerra Nova, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The identification of core complex‐style extensional detachment faults (CCDFs) in rifted margins is crucial for accurately restoring their stratigraphic and thermal histories. Yet recognising CCDFs in seismic reflection images is challenging due to their faint topographic expression; the lack of associated abrupt offset in seismic reflections;
