Livestock Tango: U.S. and Latin America Dance Together, but Who Will Lead?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 609-633, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the competitiveness between Latin American and U.S. livestock and meat sectors. We employ a computable general equilibrium modeling framework to evaluate two scenarios: coordinated improvements in Latin American productivity, transport efficiency, and market access (Scenario I), and the minimum productivity gains required ...

Dynamic Migratory Strategies and Foraging Habitats of Southern Right Whales Revealed by Satellite Telemetry

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Satellite‐linked tags on 34 southern right whales revealed basin‐scale movements and foraging concentrated in the ACC, Crozet Islands, Benguela system, and the highly variable seasonal ice zone. Environmental modelling revealed environmental drivers behind foraging decisions, and identified key ecosystems.

Accessible Climate and Impact Model Output for Studying the Human and Environmental Impacts of Nuclear Conflict

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 3, July 2026.
When a nuclear weapon is detonated in a region with sufficient fuel loading, the resulting firestorm can lift soot into the stratosphere, where it disperses globally over a few weeks. The soot, or black carbon, blocks sunlight, decreasing temperature and precipitation and depleting ozone.

Further Findings on the Intergenerational Transmission of Alcohol Consumption

open access: yesHealth Economics, Volume 35, Issue 7, Page 1056-1072, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Using 43,817 parent–child pairs from 23 waves of the HILDA Survey, I study the intergenerational transmission of alcohol use within a rational model of trait transmission. Transmission is predominantly same‐sex: the mother–daughter elasticity is 0.10 and the father–son elasticity is 0.09; there is no father–daughter effect.

From Parallel Provision to Health System Integration: Exploring the Trajectory and Contextual Drivers of the Healthcare Response for Refugees in Six Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 607-621, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Rising numbers of refugees, prolonged displacement and reduced funding have led to challenges in terms of how to address their healthcare needs, with different approaches taken, ranging from parallel mechanisms to arrangements that are integrated (to different extents) within the national health system. Increasingly, global frameworks call for
