Performance of a Ductile Hybrid Post-Tensioned Beam-to-Column Connection for Precast Concrete Frames under Seismic Loads: A Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The performance of precast concrete frame structures against seismic loads mainly depends on the beam-to-column connection. A ductile hybrid connection consists of unbonded post-tensioning steel and bonded reinforcement bars, both of which provide ...

Performance of Glass to Iron-based Shape Memory Alloy Adhesive Shear Joints with Different Geometry

open access: yesChallenging Glass Conference Proceedings, 2022
Previous research has shown that glass beams with external, mechanical post-tensioning along their edges show better structural performance than glass beams without any such reinforcement.

Post-Tensioning Technologies

open access: yes, 2013
Post-tensioned bridge construction has become increasingly popular and financially competitive with traditional prestressed concrete and steel plate girder bridges. Unfortunately, Indiana has experienced several construction-related problems in the few post-tensioned structures built, some of which have caused significant long-term durability concerns.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Prestress Force Monitoring and Quantification of Precast Segmental Beams through Neutral Axis Location Identification

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper proposes using neutral axis locations to monitor and quantify the prestress force in post-tensioned precast segmental beams. Strain measurements are used to obtain the neutral axis locations of specific cross-sections of the precast ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Experimental and Numerical Assessments of New Concrete Dry Connections concerning Potentials of the Robotic Subtractive Manufacturing Technique

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
The efficient utilization of robotic construction of structures requires a review of structural material, elements and details, while traditional construction methods face difficulties in producing some dry concrete joints, robotic methods can ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
