Diagnostic scales for the post-thrombotic syndrome
Thrombosis Research, 2018Post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is the most common long-term complication after deep vein thrombosis (DVT) developing in up to 70% of the patients. PTS is diagnosed on the basis of typical symptoms and signs of the lower limb with a previous DVT, but no objective diagnostic test exists.

Rutosides for treatment of post-thrombotic syndrome
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2013Post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is a long-term complication of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) that is characterised by pain, swelling, and skin changes in the affected limb. One in three patients with DVT will develop post-thrombotic sequelae within five years.

INTRODUCTION Post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) is a burdensome long-term complication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Recent studies have suggested that rivaroxaban may reduce PTS events compared to vitamin-K antagonists (VKAs). We, therefore, systematically

The post-thrombotic syndrome and compression therapy
Phlebology: The Journal of Venous Disease, 2014Compression therapy is still the cornerstone in the treatment of PTS. The therapy is primarily focused on the decrease of the AVP, enhancement of the microcirculation and reduction of the edema. In our practice, most patients are initially treated with short stretch bandage to reduce the edema. Medical Elastic Compression Stockings (MECS) class II (CEN

Following damage to the deep veins of the leg associated with venous thrombosis, patients may develop a number of clinical features grouped together under the title of ‘post-thrombotic syndrome’. These include stasis dermatitis, ulceration, secondary varicose veins and varying degrees of leg oedema.

Post-thrombotic syndrome: a case study
Nursing Standard, 2011Post-thrombotic syndrome is a common complication following deep vein thrombosis. The severity and incidence of this condition can be considerably decreased with the use of compression hosiery. This article focuses on a case study of a patient who had post-thrombotic syndrome for ten years before receiving effective treatment.

The post‐thrombotic syndrome: progress and pitfalls
British Journal of Haematology, 2006SummaryThe post‐thrombotic syndrome (PTS) develops in up to one half of patients after symptomatic deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and is the most common complication of DVT. Typical features of PTS include chronic pain, swelling, heaviness, oedema and skin changes in the affected limb. In severe cases, venous ulcers may develop.
