The article covers effect of post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the properties of thermo-mechanically treated (TMT) pipeline steel in interaction with hydrogen gas. The object of the study were specimens of the base metal and longitudinal welded joints of X65 large diameter pipes in the initial state (after TMT) and after PWHT.

A viscoplastic model for numerical simulation of welding and post-weld heat treatment

A viscoplastic model is developed to perform numerical simulation of welding and post-weld heat treatment in an industrial context. It can describe with the same formalism the steel inelastic behaviour all along the process: time-independent plastic at low temperature, viscoplastic at higher temperature and viscous fluid for melted metal.
