A simple technique for retrofitting a post and core to a crown
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2002Fabrication of the post and core generally precedes fabrication of the final restoration. Several techniques have been described for making a post and core pattern with autopolymerzing acrylic resin or wax to retrofit an existing crown.1-5 This tip presents a modification of the technique described by Priest and Goerig.4 In our experience, the ...

Digi Post - An Impression-Free Novel Technique for Customizing Post and Core
Medical Research Archives, 2023Endodontic therapy is only successful in the long run if the tooth is suitably rehabilitated. Although countless studies on various types of post and core have been conducted, there is a paucity of studies on customizing post and core with digitalization to eliminate the hassle of impression-making emphasizing the need for the development of strategic ...

Direct pattern technique for posts and cores
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1978The technique described results in a well adapted cast post and core with good retention (Figs. 18 and 19). The chances of perforation of the root and trauma to the patient are reduced, and the expense of the procedure is minimal. This system is adaptable to single- or multirooted teeth and continually produces good results with minimal problems.

An indirect technique for fabrication of a post and core wax pattern
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2002Indirect techniques for the fabrication of posts and cores provide some advantages over direct techniques. Indirect fabrication allows parallelism and design to be optimized. This becomes particularly important when multiple abutments are prepared. The laboratory technique, however, can create some difficulties.

Technique for post-core removal from a crown and a new post-core fabrication
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1980A method of removal of a post cemented to crown with the recovery of the undamaged crown has been presented. The fabrication of a replacement post-core assembly and the reuse of the original crown is described.

Simplified technique for refabrication of cast posts and cores
Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2000This article describes a simple procedure of recording contours of an existing cast post and core that needs to be reconstructed, using a polyvinyl siloxane material as a matrix for fabrication of a new cast post and core in a relatively short time with reduced cost.

Evaluation of a two-piece post and core fabrication technique
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989Casting a core to a prefit post reduces the need for adjustments at cementation. This study compared two-piece post and core castings to one-piece castings of the same geometric configuration. The specimens were made with 0.070-inch Whaledent laboratory burnout posts invested in a phosphate investment and cast with Midas, Sturdicast, or Rexillium III ...
