Bone Marrow Changes in the Post Mortem Interval

The morphology and cytochemistry of the haemopoietic cells in the bone marrow of cadavers were studied at various intervals up to 96 hours after death. Pyknotic erythroblasts, neutrophils and myelocytes showed time-related autolytic changes which gave some indication of the post mortem interval up to 12 hours after death.
