Welding Procedures and Post Weld Heat Treatment
2022All of the weld processes described in Chapter 7 are capable of producing high quality welds. As further described in that chapter, some processes are limited either by the process itself, or for practical reasons, to the production of certain types of welds. Regardless of the weld process or type, numerous variables affect weld quality.

Hyperbaric Post Weld Heat Treatment
Offshore Technology Conference, 1983ABSTRACT This paper describes a sub-sea hyperbaric Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) system developed jointly by SHELL UK EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION and COMEX DIVING. It discusses:Assessment of power requirements and equipment,Initial tests conducted in the COMEX hydrosphere and in shallow water in Marseille,Full ...

In-Situ Post-Weld Heat Treatment of Wet Welds
Offshore Technology Conference, 19921.0 Introduction There is a substantial interest in implementing wet welding for structural repairs of offshore installations. Some of the restrictions to its use are heat affected zone (HAZ) hardening and cracking, and the inability to produce wet welds that meet the bend test requirements of a surface weld ...

Welding, Repair and Local Post Weld Heat Treatment Residual Stresses
Volume 2: Computer Technology & Bolted Joints; Design & Analysis, 2023Abstract The study presented deals with an industrial case and relates to the calculation of the residual stresses in a butt weld of two shells of large diameter, high thickness and great length constituting part of pressure equipment. After completion of the weld, it can be repaired if unacceptable defects are detected ...

Post-weld heat-treatment cracking in superalloys
International Metals Reviews, 1983This review is concerned with a type of cracking that often occurs during the postweld heat-treatment of Ni-base superalloys. The metallurgical factors and process variables that influence crack sensitivity are discussed in detail. The various types of tests available to study this type of embrittlement and the limitations of each approach are briefly ...

IN792 DS Superalloy: Optimization of EB Welding and Post-Welding Heat Treatments
Materials Science Forum, 2016Electron beam (EB) welding has been used to realize the seams on 2 mm thick plates of directionally solidified (DS) IN792 superalloy. A grid of the samples has been prepared by varying the pass speed v from 1 to 2.5 m/min, while the other process parameters (power P = 1 kW, acceleration voltage T = 50 kV, beam current I = 20 mA) were kept constant ...

A viscoplastic model for numerical simulation of welding and post-weld heat treatment
Le Journal de Physique IV, 1999A viscoplastic model is developed to perform numerical simulation of welding and post-weld heat treatment in an industrial context. It can describe with the same formalism the steel inelastic behaviour all along the process: time-independent plastic at low temperature, viscoplastic at higher temperature and viscous fluid for melted metal.

The influence of post-weld heat treatment on microstructure of TC4 weld joints
Materials Research Innovations, 2015The effect of one two-step high-temperature post-weld heat treatment on the microstructure of TC4 weld joints has been studied in our experiment, and as a result, the weld joints with attractive mechanical property have been obtained. The weld joints consisted of lamellar martensitic α, retained β and primary α, therefore microstructure of the weld ...
