Mapping landowners' willingness to allow recreational deer harvest on their property for managing chronic wasting disease

We demonstrate an approach for mapping the probability of landowners' willingness to allow wildlife management actions on their property using chronic wasting disease as a case study. Larger property sizes were associated with higher landowner willingness. We mapped predictions across the contiguous United States at the census tract level.

Deer Management Assistance Program hunter satisfaction in Pennsylvania increased over time and was associated with antlerless deer harvest success, repeated permit purchases, and seeing an antlerless deer. Understanding these relationships can help wildlife agencies support both deer management objectives and long‐term hunter engagement.
