Postdural puncture headache: Revisited

Best Practice & Research Clinical Anaesthesiology, 2023
Postdural puncture headache (PDPH) may develop after an unintended (accidental) dural puncture, after deliberate dural puncture for spinal anaesthesia or during diagnostic dural punctures performed by other medical specialties. PDPH may sometimes be predictable (patient characteristics, inexperienced operator or co-morbidities), is almost never ...

Postdural Puncture Headache

Journal of Pain & Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy, 2013
Questions from patients about pain conditions, analgesic pharmacotherapy and responses from authors are presented to help educate patients and make them more effective self-advocates. Postdural Puncture Headache

Anesthesiology Clinics, 2006

Postdural Puncture Headache

2022
Abstract This chapter discusses postdural puncture headache (PDPH), which may be the result of a lumbar puncture, myelogram, or an inadvertent dural puncture during neuraxial anesthesia. PDPH results from decreased cerebrospinal fluid volume from a leak at the dural puncture site, which causes sinking of the brain in the skull.

Postdural puncture headache

2016
Postdural puncture headache (PDPH) may follow either deliberate or unintentional (accidental) penetration of the interdigitating meninges, the dura and arachnoid mater. It is one of the most common and clinically important complications of regional anaesthesia and analgesia in the obstetric population.

Postdural Puncture Headache is a Risk Factor for New Postdural Puncture Headache

Cephalalgia, 2007
The aim of this study was to determine if patients with a previous history of postdural puncture headache (PDPH) might be prone to a new episode after spinal anaesthesia. Consecutive patients ( n = 258) who had had surgery under spinal anaesthesia were studied. Of 42 patients with a previous history of PDPH, eight (19.0±) developed a new PDPH episode;

Diagnosis PDPH can be discussed with four etiologies: cortical vein thrombosis, meningitis, intracranial haematomas (intracerebral, subdural) or migraine. PDPH result from
