EPIDURAL HEMATOMAS IN THE POSTERIOR CRANIAL FOSSA

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1993
A review of 89 cases of posterior fossa epidural hematoma (PFEDH) is presented. The mortality rate was 17.9%. In 44 cases (49.4%) there were associated intracranial hematomas. In 30 cases the hematoma was localized within the boundary of the foramen magnum and the transverse and sigmoid sinuses ("pure" PFEDH).

Posterior Cranial Fossa Tumors in Young Adults

The Laryngoscope, 2006
AbstractObjective/Hypothesis: This retrospective study presents our experience on the posterior cranial fossa tumors in young adults during the past 15 years.Methods. From 1991 to 2005, 16 (0.8%) of 2,091 young adults (range, 16‐29 years) with dizziness/vertigo, hearing loss, or tinnitus were diagnosed with posterior fossa tumor. Each patient underwent

Posterior cranial fossa and spinal local infections

Child's Nervous System, 2018
The aim of this paper is to review the current knowledge on the management of local infections in posterior cranial fossa (PCF) and spinal surgery; the center of our paper will be the diagnosis and management of infections of the wound, the subcutaneous tissue, and muscle strata.Very few papers address the problem of local infections in posterior ...

Extradural haematoma of posterior cranial fossa.

Journal of neurosurgical sciences, 1993
Two cases of extradural haematoma of posterior fossa with an acute course are reported. After trauma, the two patients did not show any symptom for a time of 16 and 18 hours respectively. Both of them showed a status of coma at the moment of hospitalization. The haematoma was diagnosed by CT scan.

Ectopic cerebellum in the posterior cranial fossa

Pediatric Radiology, 2012
Isolated, well-differentiated ectopic cerebellar tissue is extremely rare, with only eight cases in the literature. We describe a unique case of histopathologically proven ectopic cerebellar tissue presenting as a discrete extra-axial mass in the posterior cranial fossa.

Posterior Cranial Fossa and Contents

1981
Bridging veins from the surface of the cerebrum frequently run into the upper surface of the tentorium cerebelli and continue as tentorial sinuses either to the transverse sinus or the sigmoid sinus. Less commonly they run medially to the superior petrosal sinus or the straight sinus.

Cerebellar mutism after posterior cranial fossa surgery.

Journal of neurosurgical sciences, 1996
Mutism is a rare sequel of PCF tumor removal. Three patients aged 5 to 20 years old with mutism after posterior fossa surgery are presented. Suboccipital craniectomy was performed in all patients with grossly total removal of a medulloblastoma. The mutism that may occur after an operation for a PCF lesion has been explained in functional and/or organic
